Now you know the "dealio" about those three 'villain' 'wolves. And yes, Riqurélio tells the truth. Coywolves ARE a thing. Here's a link to the Wikipedia: Coywolf There's also a documentary about them from PBS Nature: "Meet the Coywolf"

If their head isn't hurting that means they haven't been learning.

Sadly, with Darkfang, that's usually true. I'd been waiting a long time to see what you speak of come to the page. Although I do not enjoy hurting my 'wolves, it had been a joy to finally make that scene.

...what? I mean I understand its a real thing but how did...they...is it...what!? How would that work? I understand it being in the wild with animals but how are there were-coywolves?

Riqurélio will explain how on the page after the next.
Eh?

Wait . . . It's established that werewolves can regenerate, but Riqurélio has a peg-leg.

Yes, Riqurélio has a peg-leg. While it's true that (my) werewolves can heal cuts, gashes, wounds, bruises or broken bones rather quickly via transformations, they are not able to regrow severed body parts. Once something is lopped off (or poked out, like his eye) it's gone. [Additional note/explanation: Their tails are able to remain intact if cut off from their body, which is how Duarte collected them. A severed paw, say, would revert to a human hand. But since a tail is not a human part, it remains a tail.]

We finally see the Werewolf pirate!

PeterVonBrown
Yes, indeed! :) He first appeared on Page 111, though, with just one line, which is a sort of joke since he said "Took you long enough." He didn't show up again until now because there'd been some Talbot and Gavin storylines to follow. Riqurélio will be in it for the next 3 pages. After that... a previous character returns!

Oh yeah, I forgot all about the pg111 appearance :P

Completely understandable. It's quite a few pages in between. The horrors of incremental storytelling! ;)

i.don't know really why but i am Kind dissapointed that the villain gang are not pureblood Wolves.

Maybe cause it feels kind of cheap, like you could say that they are the evil ones cause there are coywolves. Like in the old Cartoon Extreme dinosaur were every bad dinosaur was a "Raptor" and therefore inherently evil.

or maybe i am just biased cause i like the villain wolves. (or at least two of them.)

Sorry you're disappointed. Personally, I think it makes them cooler because they're not your average werewolf. A regular werewolf "gone bad" seems too passé or expected. Especially with the comic's 'friendly werewolves' premise.

I don't know this Extreme Dinosaur cartoon at all. When I came across coywolves on Netflix while formulating the comic, I thought it would be fun to include them - and therefore they'd have to be 'special', which came about as having them be the "villains" outside of the fair town.

If it helps, the 'Boss' is not a werecoywolf. He's a regular werewolf, albeit a powerful one.

I am, of course, curious which two you like. And why not the other one (or two, if counting the Boss). And I'm certainly glad they are liked. :)

If you feel it's important for me to see, could you post it in several replies, perhaps?
Moonwolf 8th Mar 2018, 5:19 PM edit delete reply
Naaa, not really that important but i try to shorten it,lets see if that works:
Well in my thinking is, that they don'T have to be "Special" being are werewolf is already cool enough in my book. And i think its more realistic to have good AND bad werewolfs. nothing passee about it.

Of course i understand your reasoning and respect your decision to make it so.
and that the big Boss is A powerful Werewolf definitly helps.

Well i already mentioned it in earlier Comics, the two i like are of course the Boss and the green Shorts one,i Think Sebastian is his Name.
and its not that i dislike the other two, i find them more meh, the Girl Looks Kind of weird to me and the scrawny one give me the lackey vibe.
thought i do like them as a Group in General :)

Oh, don't get me wrong. There ARE bad werewolves in my 'world' - but again, I don't want to focus on that so much given the comic's premise. This idea of werewolves just wanting to be friendly and hang out like regular folks has been with me since my teenage years. Granted I didn't have the TOWN part thought up back then, but the love of this notion sticks.

If I had included werecoywolves among the regular 'wolves it would have been a head-scratcher as to why they needed to be there other than to "be cool" or to have them for the sake of having them. Or else it would/could have gotten into a discriminatory issue among the wers, and that's not conducive to what I want to protray as daily life in the 'wolf town.

But on a certain level, I can see what you're saying. It just seemed more logical to me, all factors considered. Thanks for reading - and caring!
