so i guess he heard about the critter from talbot, either in person or via that chatroom

which reminds me...is wolverton connected to the internet as a whole or do they just have a local area network?

Talbot tells him about the raccoon at Larry's Place. Pages 177 & 179. The actual explaining takes place "off camera" since it would be redundant for the comic, but there's enough on those two pages to indicate they had a conversation about it.

'Wolves can access the regular human internet through the PAW, but not vice-versa. There's an app or setting or such that allows human internet. Also, on page 169, there's an app icon in the middle which shows a little human and a town with an arrow. The 'wolves use it to check for things inside the neighboring man towns which would be, for instance, how Floyd looked up Mr. Mischief (the gay bar).

I love how inquisitive you are about the details. :)

I had a bit of a question. If it look like Duke was in danger of losing, would/could the raccoon alerted someone to aid him?

He certainly would and could have alerted somewolf to assist, yes. It's also just as likely that the raccoon would have jumped in to help.

why would he do that? helping wolverton citizens and those looking for sanctuary there is one thing, but getting involved in a dogfight is something else entirely...unless he's a guardian spirit or angel of some kind disguised as a common raccoon

do the wolves here even have a deity they worship that would send down such a being? i would think that, if magic exists here, it's very likely that deities do too

Because he helps out 'wolves. And he also would not like the CoyWolves coming into Wolverton. Eventually, more will be said about the raccoon in the comic. But for now he remains a mystery.

There's no special wolf or werewolf deity, no. Religion/gods are left up to individual 'wolves. Many of them reject the notions of religion in the first place given the history of persecution and rejection of themselves by the church itself. It's not going to be a factor in the comic so far as I know at this point.
