so...i'm guessing werecoywolves can't occur through 'normal' means and only through fully magical ones? (even though it's technically ALL magic as far as i can tell)

and since bane is apparently analogous to marijuana...do bane brownies exist?

As you know from the comic, there are many ways to become a werewolf. But they are just that, ways to be a person with the ability to become a wolf. It wouldn't be possible to become another animal. So in order to do so, you'd need to use or create a specific method. As for magic - they all would fall under that umbrella, yes, since a curse would also be a form of magic. How else could it be done? :)

Bane brownies! I had not thought of that, but logically there's nothing preventing them. I'd say beyond 'wolves making them in their own kitchens, they'd only be available from Trevor for sale in Bane of Your Existence.

how else could it be done? a retrovirus, since they can alter DNA on the fly - that's generally the go-to method for those who want to explain werewolves in a sci-fi setting, and the method i happen to use whenever i use my werewolf in sci-fi based roleplaying situations

only problem with sci-fi means of transformation is that unlike with fantasy elements, sci-fi generally has to at least pay lip service to real science...and with current scientific knowledge (or rather, my EXTREMELY limited and second-hand knowledge of such things), you end up running into several problems, one being that rapid genetic alteration on the level a werecreature would require takes absolutely INSANE levels of energy to accomplish - which can somewhat be solved by consuming large amounts of food prior to a shift, but there's also the additional problem of basically being a one-way thing, because the human body was just not meant to endure the levels of stress that kind of shifting brings, especially not at those speeds

...and i kind of went on a ramble

You're perFURctly entitled to ramblings here, especially if they're werewolf related. :) And yes, DNA manipulation's a viable method, but not within my 'comic universe'. I wanted to stick to the folklore & historic side of things. So here, it takes curses or an 'everlasting spell' (meaning it will work across the board for anyone at any time after its creation). For example, like Duke drinking water from a wolf paw print. Someone made this to be true via the dark arts and so it is.
