The reveal gets closer and closer... It will be quite a while yet. But "soon" (which does mean months, though, not counting the couple months already in the buffer/queue).

Ha! i got it, the Racoon is the "Anti"-Wilbur
At some Point Wilburs luck separated from him and took a form of his own as a Little Raccoon who runs around as a Living, helping good luck charm. Leaving Wilbur a luckless wolf.

heh, i am just joking around of Course, but i think it would make for a good Story xD

Odd questions:

1) What type of vocal range to 'wolves have? That is, can they hit higher (or lower) notes than humans due to their hybrid vocal chords? Most wolf howling tends to sound high-pitched to me, so I can easily see them hitting very high notes, but growls tend to be deep, so I could see them hitting very low ones too!

2) Are there other bands or genres? One type of music I like is symphonic metal (a blend of symphony orchestra and metal with operatic bits as well). I'm sure there are fans of country music too (and 'wolves doing a hoedown is a cute image in my head).

Well, it's already established that their voices sound the same in 'wolf or human forms. What you suggest makes sense, though. But it would only be true in their 'wolf form.

Loup Garou appears simply because they were part of the drawings made a few decades ago. And a "werewolf rock band" seemed too fun not to include. The WCM came about from my sweetheart, who plays the piano and a few other instruments. I'm lucky that rehearsals with some other musicians happen in our home. And that I get to attend concerts for free. :) When I started drawing werewolves again (because of my sweetheart) I naturally drew them playing chamber music. It made just as much ridiculous sense as a rock band. And I'm all for classical music being appreciated more. So these two fell into the comic of their own accord. Other than those two genres, it didn't occur to me to explore more. For the same reason as the other inquiries you've had. I'm finally at the WCM concert after over four years, five if you count the pre-posting time and development. So are there other musician 'wolves? Probably. Will we see them? Probably not.

Werewolves doing just about anything's a cute image in MY head, hence, this comic. :)

Yeah, I remembered they sound the same, but talking isn't exactly the same as singing. People don't generally go around talking in operatic voices. I also figured that it'd be difficult or impossible for them to reach certain pitches in human forms. I know that a lot of emotion can go into a howl ("sad and confused", for instance) so it'd make sense that someone interested could learn how to control that, making for some heartbreaking or joyful music. (I imagine there are happy howls too.)

I've read that wolves will deliberately alter their pitches out of tune so it makes the pack sound more numerous than it is. I can imagine 'wolves figuring a way to "tune" their voices just as easily.

That's neat! You and your sweetheart may enjoy symphonic metal as it crosses genres in an interesting way. I don't expect to see them, but I do love asking and seeing your responses. :-)

Hey, would you name one or two symphonic metal bands? Your comment explains a reference I saw in a comic but it seemed like it was made up as part of the story.

I don't keep up with new music much anymore, and I'm curious.

The band Nightwish immediately comes to mind. You can check out one of their live performances on youtube if you want. Metalwings and Within Temptation are others and wikipedia has a list.

i know nightwish through End of all Hope and Wishmaster...and that's pretty much it

those are the only two nightwish songs i've ever heard more than once, though i have heard a couple others here and there

Yeah, those were back when Tarja Turunen was lead singer. They added Floor Jansen back in 2012 and she's the singer in the video I linked to above.

Hmm, I too am wondering about the raccoon! Though seeing as I'm reading this page months later, maybe I'll even find out today :D

I promise the reveal of the raccoon is coming - eeking along toward it. I can say, though, that it's within my range of seeing ahead. It will be quite a while yet, but soon. As a comparison metaphor, imagine if you had to cross the United States from California and then across the Atlantic to the UK. We're now about 2/3 of the way over the Atlantic.
