If you're here for the first time, there are no werewolves because right now we're following teenager Gavin on his unwanted play date with a younger boy. He lives outside of Wolverton in a house in the woods with his grandparents. Technically, there is a werewolf, as Gavin's one in secret.

Depends on which 'wolf.

Gavin: Ah, c'mon! Don't tell my gran and I'll show you a pond that a mermaid lives in.

If he knew of a mermaid pond, he'd be there all the time. That's an interesting question for me though - do mermaids exist in my comic world? My gut says yes, given the Riqurélio side of things. I'd also be inclined to say now all but extinct or at the very least highly endangered.

How did Archibald see Darkfang? Also, wasn't he worried about being eaten not that long ago?

Caught a glimpse. From the tiny bit that he saw, he could assess that Gavin didn't seem to be afraid or in danger, and Archibald would want to not seem afraid as well. But really he's too riled up by Gavin and the sneakers to worry about being eaten.

Talk about being in a bind. Gavin said there were werewolves in the woods, now when one shows up he tries to deny it (likely for the safety of Wolverton).

and worried about being BREATHED on by a ghost

:D I randomly thought again about Indagare's inquiry as to what Archibald believes about that. An idea sprang to mind, so I can only assume Archibald let me know. He thinks if a ghost breathes on him it will corrode his soul and take years off his life.

funnily enough, that can actually happen in some of the older might and magic games - one of the ghost variants in the only one of the series i've played (M&M6 The Mandate of Heaven) has a chance of prematurely aging whatever character is getting attacked

and age isn't just a vanity stat like it is in the few modern games that actually bother having it - if any of your party gets too old, either naturally (which is impossible unless you absolutely SUCK at time management) or artificially, they start suffering stat maluses

Woooooo. Just a shout out to a fellow Might and magic fan (that is not heroes).
Granted i only ever finished m&m7 and M&M8 but they are soooo goood. just started replaying M&M7 a month ago. Love the old classic games.

i haven't even gotten off emerald isle in 7 and haven't done anything in 8 or 9 at all, despite having both - 6 is the only one i've actually finished

i won't even talk about 10, which i spent more time fixing ubisoft's screwup with the game not actually generating savegames when i save than i have actually playing the game itself
Moonwolf 5th Jan 2021, 6:04 PM edit delete reply
Thats a shame, the game is really good once you get off the island.
and i liked M&M8 cause it something on its own, having just one Main character and had to recruit the rest for the team, also that you could play as a minotaur and even Recruit a Dragon later is just crazy in a good way.

M&M9 just didnt click with me at all, so i gave up on it.
And M&M10..no just no.
Moonwolf 5th Jan 2021, 6:28 PM edit delete reply
also i must admit .i kind of skipped every game before 7 so i dont really know anything about M&M6
maybe i give it a try someday.

Are there normal werewolves? What would be "normal"?
LegendaryLycanthrope 5th Jan 2021, 12:21 AM edit delete reply
LegendaryLycanthrope
wolverton is a good example of normalcy for werewolves

pizza, movies, paw-wear...narcotics

actually...are there movies? there are theatres, but i don't recall seeing any cinemas...what movies would werewolves even watch?

I guess, in as much as werewolves are people too. On the other side, I imagine that 'wolves always have a little bit of strangeness to them that makes them such unique characters.

I'm not sure the official answer, but theaters could theoretically be converted into a cinema by adding a projector and 'silver screen'. What type they'd watch, I don't know, but I doubt it'd be most filmed by Hollywood. Maybe they make their own?

A friend of mine wondered about this too - whether or not 'wolves make their own movies and TV shows. I have to answer no. On the whole, it's just not feasible and borders on the edge of ridiculous even for something grounded in the absurd. Having a whole production studio hidden away in the woods in North America... in addition to the town and WolfWear and bakery factories,,, there's just no way. Plus it would take up too much of everywolf's time and the scheduling work duty nightmares involved. They do, however, have a public access channel that's all theirs, and some 'wolves are bound to make homespun (to varying degrees of tech prowess) shows for it. But otherwise, 'wolves watch TV and movies just like regular people. Only difference is...the pirate's booty provides the town with all the main and commercial streaming channels. Hey, it benefits everywolf... :)

so they all get netflix/hulu/amazon prime/CBSAA/disney+/etc...?

and...can they actually order things from amazon? like, do they have a PO box set up in the nearby hooman town for orders that someone goes to collect every so often? (because obviously they wouldn't have deliveries directly to the town)
PeterVonBrown 5th Jan 2021, 11:55 PM edit delete reply
PeterVonBrown
That's correct. They all get all of those and probably more.

Yes, you have it right. One of the jobs for the town as a human is going in to collect package mail from the human world. I'd just been thinking of this again walking along yesterday. And I must admit I have not smoothed out the logistics of how they match the package to the 'wolf considering human names aren't used in Wolverton. But I'm sure there's a solution and they implement it. ;)
LegendaryLycanthrope 5th Jan 2021, 11:58 PM edit delete reply
LegendaryLycanthrope
well, wouldn't anyone who's ordered packages have to mention whatever name they used while ordering it so the delivery wolf can make sure the correct package gets where it's supposed to?

heck, one would think they have a forum where those names are posted for easy perusal
PeterVonBrown 6th Jan 2021, 12:03 AM edit delete reply
PeterVonBrown
Yes, except human names are private in Wolverton. No 'wolf knows the other 'wolves real names beyond their first name, assuming they used their actual name. They add places or descriptors as surnames/telling apart. (Like on Page 74)
LegendaryLycanthrope 6th Jan 2021, 12:07 AM edit delete reply
LegendaryLycanthrope
well, nothing's stopping them from creating an account with a fake name to use - i mean, i'm sure amazon has a rule saying you have to use your real name...but realistically, how are they going to know?

it's like facebook with that same rule - i didn't use my real name when i signed up for it years ago and they haven't done anything about it (of course, that may be because i don't actually use it, so they don't pay attention to it)
